    I have this and when I plugged it into a dell vostro 1500 I got a panic shutdown to prevent damage, so I think it might pull too much power.

    There is no way this light is drawing 500ma... my guess is that your Vostro is just a pile of crap.

    for all you DIY photographers out there, grab a handful of these things and a powered 7-port hub for lighting miniatures or products. you could also snip the USB end off and hook up a battery (check power requirements to get the right voltage).

    For $800 more you can buy a Lenovo Thinkpad T61 with the LED built in.
