I have been using it for more than 2 years. For $20 you cant get any better..unless Skype will drop the price for the phone number
http://magic-jack.pissedconsumer.com/ Maybe of interest.
Ignore those negative comments. This MagicJack works!! We have it connected to our office PC, and make and receive calls with no problem. Actually, we have it connected from the PC to the FAX/Copy Machine, and from there to our LandLine phones... Faxes are received perfectly and are sent with no problem, I guess you do need a good quality Fax machine though. Give it a try and stop beeing cheap!! for 25$ you cant ask for much. After you buy it you could upgrade your service to 5 years for 60$!! thats a great price. Enjoy.
S I actually got my magicJack to work with my Iphone.... I will not tell you how i did it, but I did. I could actually make Cell Phone calls using my MajicJack account, and not my AT&T minutes.
Peace..
As with any VOIP product, MagicJack call quality depends on how good your internet connection is. By "internet", I mean from your house through all the gateways to MJ's servers. If you're "near" a MJ server farm, quality is superb.
As for leaving the computer on and using electricity, I run a laptop for other server purposes. It uses 14W, which running 24/7 is about $1 a month. But it's not an extra cost for me because the laptop is already running other functions.
My relatives swear this is a good product. Supports Windows/Mac. I've seen some posts about making software work under Linux via VM or VirtualBox.
This is great for people who don't require a land-line often.
It has great call quality. Ofcourse it depends on internet speed. Minumum 128Kbps connection required.
does it work to call cell phones?
