Today only. Coastal Contacts is offering a free pair of glasses with coupon code FREEGLASSES525 [10,000 uses]. Some exclusions may apply; shipping and handling is around $13. Includes the frame and standard 1.5 index lenses.
Works fine for me, discount shows in the cart before checkout and order went through, order confirmation email shows right total, but first I did a test run.
They aren't offering their most expensive frames. When looking at frames, you can't pick the ones with the text that reads "coupons not applicable" under that frame picture, but it works with most of them at $88 or less list price.
Designer plastic $68 frame totals $15 w/coupon (handling & insurance charge went up $2)
Stainless $88 frame totals $16 (handling & insurance went up a buck more)
random test data used:
single vision, -2.0 sph, cyl none, axis none, PD 64, 1.5 lens index, no coatings or tints, (nothing to raise price). Then I retried with cyl and axis values, no price rise.
NOTE that a couple times I tried to enter the lens info and proceed and the page just refreshed without adding it to the cart, and I thought maybe the data was incompatible with the frame or their capabilities but it wasn't. Retrying to enter the data worked to get it in the cart.
Also note that this 3-5 day shipping doesn't seem to mean you'll have them within almost 5 days, my order today states "You can expect your shipment to arrive on June 9, 2011 (for in stock items)", 15 days ETA.
Just an update, I received what looks to be a final PDF receipt in email today, looks like they are making good at the price... now waiting to see if the quality is any good, if the frames are actually as pictured (besides being photoshopped to have far too much contrast like most websites do with metal objects like watches), and if the RX is right.

Contrary to the statement on my order, the shipping tracker shows due for delivery tomorrow, so considering it was the end of the business day on the 25th when I ordered, it will have taken them only 8 days including a weekend to get the order to my door which is pretty good, I think my last low cost glasses order from Hong Kong took between 2-3 weeks and wasn't any cheaper, though the selection of frames offered was slightly better.
There's nothing on the page to tell which frames, etc. are available...
Another marketing rip...
I fell for this marketing gimmick twice. Has anyone been able to get the "free" eyeglasses?
