Works like a charm! I just did my 2007 tax return yesterday using TurboTax and thought I would enter the data in TaxAct to test it. The results were identical. I will use TaxAct next year.

Edit: Just noticed that they also have a free downloadable version of the software.

I used them last year and was satisfied. Some spam during the process trying to get you to upgrade to the paid version, but nothing that renders the free version unreasonable to use.

Used for the past 3 years - couldn't be happier.

Gave it a try today. Lots of clicking on Next, to get past the ads to upgrade from the free version to the 10 dollar version. But, otherwise it went pretty easily. We shall see how quickly the cash gets deposited now ...

I've had great luck with this.

I think they are prolly the best, since they allow me to file investment properties. Turbotax won't let me

Go to the IRS website - right on first screen, in the middle about a quarter of the way down you will see text below:

Free tax preparation and electronic filing available for taxpayers who earn $54,000 or less."
List DOZENS of free tax filing options, some with free e-file, some with free state versions.

I used Tax ACt, Turbo Tax, and Tax Cut. I like Tax Cut marginally better. Both gave same results but I found Tax Cut a bit more user friendly, although Tax Act is very user friendly.

I highly recommend Tax Act. Use the free downloadable version not the online version.

Tax ACt e-file costs more, about $9. State version costs another $13. But if you want both buy the ULTRA version, comes with e-file and state for only $14 total.

I can't find any that offer free state filing. The best I've found is TaxSlayer which is $10.00.

I've not done my taxes yet. I may give it a try.

Doing taxes this week, will likely give this a try.
