I don't how it performs with respect to Canon, but the previous version of this model does not get very good reviews at Amazon.

Canon is pretty much the higher budget line (sounds weird huh?) I have an SD850IS (not wide lens) and it's great. I'd say the FinePix line is low end but not entirely useless!

Bought and returned - pictures are average. Picked up a Canon SD880 and can't be any happier.

Now all you need is an 80 inch plasma 1080p to view the pictures on to get the full affect. We went from pull a string and say cheese to this? No wonder we cant get any real videos of UFO's. At Least the pull a string, look through a bed sheet flash ones didn't require puny little fingers to work the darn thing. The buttons on these cameras are so small I break em trying to push em in. burp these little pos cameras. The china people can keep em all and use em to take pictures of their wives 2" long feet.

go with the canon for p&s, got the sd880, super nice, lot better than every p&s, except p6000, g10 & g9, do a search on the sd880

The F30 and F31 are legendary for their low light performance. The buzz on the F series line since then is that it's gone downhill.
