It might be great if you want to use only the software with which it is supplied, but the lack of a standard driver (such as TWAIN) makes this useless in applications requiring flexibility or path for growth. Amazing, since I once bought a $30 sale scanner with TWAIN drivers. Fujitsu does include standard drivers on its more expensive lines.
This thing is great. True, it doesn't have a twain driver. However, if you want to (very) quickly turn a stack of paper into a nice PDF, this thing is awesome. It scans both sides of a document simultaneously. Combo this up with a nice flatbed scanner for precise scanning of photos, etc. and you're all set.
We use one of these at work and it is great.

If you want to scan sheets of paper, simplex or duplex this is the way to go. If you never scan duplex set the software to scan simplex only.
On some older models you do need to chat with tech support to get the FTP login to get the drivers.
