If you're a runner, this is a great accessory for logging your pace, distance and heart rate. Forget the included software from Garmin (mine won't even uninstall, bastards) and get the free Sportracks from Zone Five http://www.zonefivesoftware.com/SportTracks/Downloads/
The GPS uses an older chipset, so sync up time can take a few min after you power it on, but the lock is solid.
Besides being a bit big, this is an excellent GPS tracker and HR logger at the lowest price I've seen.

The non-refurb version of this isn't too much more. I got mine from Amazon for $170 a few months ago. Best bang-for-buck device in the Garmin line up right now.

#2, you are right on about Sportracks. It blows the Garmin TC away! And the best way I've found to speed up signal lock is to take off the watch and put it down. It's VERY sensitive to movement. Compared to when I wear it and try to hold my arm still, it locks in half the time.

I know my wife doesn't use it to its fullest potential, but for me, it was totally worth it just to not have to answer the question "How far was my route today?" as if I'd know it without driving it.

She only used the heart rate monitor a couple of times when she was pregnant, but it was nice to have it.

Love mine. You can purchase an optional footpod for running indoors or on treadmills, and a bike sensor. There is a Mac alternative to Garmin's lackluster software called Ascent from http://www.montebellosoftware.com
