Pointless company since many smartphones have GPS with maps that are updated automatically. Good luck selling a Garmin in a year without giving it away.
Not everyone has a smart phone, and good luck finding your way after an earthquake and the cell towers are down.

Good luck searching for cell connections driving through parts of Montana
There are loads of GPS units that come up on here with lifetime free updates. I'd rather toss my old 205 and get one of those than pay $75 for updates to a $95 GPS unit.
