Amazon is offering Garmin nuMaps Lifetime North America Map Updates for $80 with free shipping. This lifetime map update service lets you download the newest map data up to four times a year and does not require any monthly fee.
How much do the roads actually change from year to year? If you go to a lot of new places often and you really need a GPS unit (I don't, for the few times that I go to a new destination I just use Google maps before I leave), why not just get a cheap one and replace it every 3 or 4 years?
hah, trying to compete with google's free GPS. eat it all gps manufacturers, trying for countless years for raping customers for hundred dollar yearly updates.
Bad news is that this is only good lifetime for one (1) device. So if you purchase a new unit or have additional units you will need one of these for each one.
That's not a bad deal considering that most map updates sell for around $100.

Paying for map updates are a rip off!
Google
Navigator cannot store maps like a regular GPS.
+Advantage= you don't have to install new map upgrades ever
-Negative= you cannot use Navigator w/o cell service (rare on Verizon)
google unit will only work where there are cell coverage.
Why are everyone talking like that?

Map upates are a rip off. Unless they can warranty your gsp for life, just get a new GSP every few years.
