    This is temping as earlier this year I bought a 765T to supplement my 2730. Then the touch part of the 2730's screen failed and the 765 became my primary GPS.

    Or, download free maps off the nefarious sites (forum.mobilism.org) and use the easy to perform hacks to stay current. Works great for me, just updated my TomTom.

    #3, no matter there are free map resources for NAVTEQ to draw upon, the act of collecting those and correcting errors is far from trivial. Nokia recently paid $8.1 billion for NAVTEQ, who sources Garmin's maps.

    You too are welcome to go around collecting map data from thousands of government agencies. And then give away the results if you wish.
