It would be nice to see a comparison chart to figure out where these sit in relation to last year's models.

#1. the 1490t is the most up to date model. it replaced the 765t. i konw this from talking to a garmin tech guy trying to figure out which one to buy.

The 265WT at 1/2 the price seems a much better deal:

You get a slightly smaller screen, no lane assist, and no way points, but everything else is on par. For me, lane assist is more bother than it's worth as it obscures where you need to go after you take your exit.

And Ben, "Turn-by-Turn Directions; Preloaded maps of the US, Canada, auto re-route" describes about 90% of all GPS devices currently available. Tosser!

Bought this for my gf 3 weeks ago. It's great and the 5 inch screen is worth it! It has everything the other garmins have except a few features like preloaded europe maps and mp3 player. Here's a great review on it and the reviewer even compares the 765t that #2's talking about:

#4 the 265wt is not a comp for the 1490t. the 265wt does not have multiple destination routing. I thought they all had the feature and learned quickly after purchasing the 265wt then quickly returning.

for me, making multiple stops a day it is a very important feature.
