General observation, Why are there so many refurbished GPS ? Makes me wonder what kind of quality control there is with these devices.

Good point #1. I've never seen any other electronic product being sold as refurbished. It's just these GPS units.

I tend to think it's more about consumer lack of understanding and bad information provided by sales staff at time of purchase at most large B&M electronics stores, than actual poor quality control, that lead to many returns and hence units going back to the manufacturer for repackaging. Most people have no clue what they're buying when they walk into those stores and subsequently purchase items (especially the lower end units) that don't meet their own expectations after using them, or even those who may have received them as gifts.

Nice unit. Screen as good as mio c310x (much better than tomtom 3rd ed.). sounds like an ok deal, if you can return it so the store if you receive a scratched or broken one.

This GPS unit is a good product. It is light and compact with no bulky casing or external antenna which makes it easy to mount just about anywhere in a vehicle.
