This is all great, but Magellan (magellangps) has AAA triptiks nationwide available on the GPS system and longer warranty for AAA members. Check this out. Could be a real differentiator.

I've used both Garmin and Magellan. EVERYTHING about the Garmin was better, from the user interface to the maps to the routing, as well as the company and the customer service. It seems as if you pay a premium for Garmin but that it is justified, at least in my opinion.

#9, you got sodimized, but you thought it was worth it at the time so enjoy. $500 for any GPS is too much in my book. Why do you care what we think anyway? I tried the NUVI350 to see what all the noise was about. Doesn't replace a good map but is a nice addition to one. Took it back because it wasn't worth the $475 at the time. No blue tooth at this price? I also want topographical maps and water resistance for motorcycle use. When I can get these features and good performance for < $200 then I will go for it. Garmin does seem to be the best at this time but you pay heavy premium for it.

Yes, #9, we need YOUR comment. Among Tom Tom, Garmine, and Magellan, which one is the best on the market nowadays?

Don't get any GPS without txt to speech function. Another word, don't get this Garmin.

      #14 Great suggestion.

Others considering this Garmin or Tomtom One XL: For ~$300 (at Amazon or buydig), it beats $600 Garmins & $500 Tomtoms hands down (TTS, media player, picture viewer, Bluetooth you name it). You can hack the hell out of it, from themes/skins to Windows CE shell, adding extra buttons or routing mode. Install any software a Windows based PDA allows, even Tomtom's maps in case you don't like the ones that come with it. Mine can play divx/mpeg2/ac3/ipod aac etc and for ~$300, you probably can't even get a branded PMP with a touch screen like this.
