They will still serve a purpose for several reasons. Can use the GP when on the phone. Can turn-off the GPS to conserve power between destinations. The screen is much easier to see. Doesn't have a "use" cost, just map upgrade costs. I considered mine an investment.

This one obviously is not the nicest of models, but it is an okay entry point for those starting out.

I like not having to worry too much when in unfamiliar areas.

A Cell phone GPS isn't going to have as large of a screen, making it harder to see your map. Also, most cell phones don't have decent battery life when the GPS is on.

This is a decent budget GPS but you should really aim for one of the 4.3" wide screen models, makes it much easier to see/use.

I have a refurbished garmin, and so far it's working just like new. This should be a good deal for those who wish to have this size of GPS.

I've heard good things from this model of Nuvi. It doesn't have a huge screen, but it's better than fumbling around with your phone and trying to make calls and such.
