A good price for this unit if you don't mind it being refurbed. Normal price seems to be hovering around $160 at the moment.

Just bought this for my dad. My wife has the Nuvi 360. I like the user interface on this one better than the 360. But I like the 360's docking abilities to the window holder better.

We got two in the family. I got one new 6 months ago for $206 and one refurbed two weeks ago for $144 shipped so $130 is good price. I love the unit for the free life time traffic subscription. It helped me out of traffic jams three time already. My refurbed unit looks new. Make sure you call if you can not register the unit AND request a new map update. Wait time: 40 minutes (request registration) and over two hours (map request... I forgot to ask my first call).

A new 255WT for $130 would be a better deal but since it's not BF anymore this is a good deal now.

Got a new one before x-mas from PcRush.com for $144 using $10 off with Google checkout. The 2 things which I hate about this unit:

      1) The volume is not loud enough. If you have noisy car interior, it hard to hear. With my old Mio C320, I can have radio playing and still hear the GPS commands.

      2) The female voice on the text to speak is somewhat hard to understand. Again, with my old Mio unit, it was a lot clearer. The Mio was probably clearer since it only used limited standard commands (turn left 300 yards, etc). The 265wt speaks the street names.

Other than that, the unit is good for the price. I do wish however, it came with red light traffic warning on this unit standard. U can always it download this function from Garmin for a free (of course), but with my old Mio GPS, you can manually add red light camera intersections in your area and it warns you when you're approaching it.

OK, I sm somewhat of an expert in satellite data so here:

Each GPS manufacturer must launch or pay to have launched their own GPS satellite(s). The GPS unit in your car can only "speak" to it's own company's satellite. The satellites in turn "speak back" to the individual GPS units. That is why they were so expensive several years ago.

The bigger companies have more units communicating with the distinct possibility of overload or crash. This has happened many times recently with Garming and TomTom since they are the most popular. If too many people are using their GPS at the same time, the satellites overload and can actually crash into another planet, star, meteor or asteroid...or worsed case back down to Earth.

Also, the beams that are transmitted as the GPS units "speak" to the satellites can cause beam deflection errors which usually occur on bridges or the entrances to tunnels. Additionally, GPS radar microwave beams can be warped and/or "wrapped" from satellites that are about to transpond and overload because of too many people beaming to them at once.

Also, the satellites can lock their beams to the wrong GPS units and it is possible to reeive someone elses meant transmission which force people to get totally lost. For example, you live in San Francisco but you receive the satellite beam from the TomTom satellite unit of a person living in Prague. This is why I only buy offbrand GPS units like Pharos
