They're still leaving TTS off these to try to make some "premium"?!
I have this, paid over $600 less than 3 years ago - works well so far, I haven't compared it to more recent models, but feels like a great buy compared to what I paid.
Huh? #1, the 350 model has TTS. It's the first feature bullet on the Radio Shack page...
I've had one of these for a couple of years -- Not as compact or fast as some of the newer ones, but still a very good product.
But check the date of the maps, if possible. Map updates are expensive, and if the refurb has maps a couple of years old that's a deal
Knock Knock.
Who's there?
Bacon.
Bacon who?
.
Aaah. I just found a review on the Radio Shack site that claimed the software load is two years old. That kills it.
I read somewhere on Newegg and Buydig that you can e-mail support to ask for maps update within 60 days of purchase even the refurb one. Software can always be updated for free, right?
A little off topic: I've heard the 7x5 series are recalled due to software glitches?
That's true, can't buy 7x5 anywhere for now, preloaded software might shut it down for good. Fix is already posted on Garmin website.
I used one of these a lot until I got my 765 and it's a good GPS for the money.
#4 Software, yes. Maps, no. Mine has not been reliable at all, so I would go for one of the newer series.
#6, I heard your 765 is being recalled? I was about to order one few days ago (an 765T actually) but the supplier said the 7x5 series was being recalled. How is yours anyway? Do the 3D building, traffic report, etc... really help?
Map update are slow. 60 days is nothing. Even the 2009 map update doesn't have the new route of a major road that was diverted and completed beginning of 2008.
I bought the 755T 2-3 months ago from Amazon. It's been working out fine. The 3D building, lane assistance, and traffic actually works in Houston, TX and Los Angeles, CA.
