BuyDig.com has the Garmin nuvi 3750 4.3" Portable GPS Navigator for $280 - $30 off with coupon code OUTDOORCPX30 = $250 with free shipping. The new nuvi line features a thin profile less than 9-mm thick, multi-touch glass display, landscape/portrait modes plus the usual turn-by-turn directions, lane assist with junction view and pre-loaded maps of North America.
I tried one of these out at a brick and mortar recently and it is a really nice GPS. Very slim and very light but still felt sturdy. Touch screen is very responsive and it's loaded with features.
With the market flooded with smartphones and low cost GPS the price needs to drop below $200 before this can become competitive.
what kind of battery life does this model have?
A recent Garmin model (not this one) had a power consumption rate greater than what could be provided via the USB/cigarette lighter external power. The result is that on a long trip with the unit plugged in and turned on, the power drained & the unit turned off after TBD hours!
^ that sounds like a software issue to me.
