I paid the same amount for my Nuvi 350 about a year and a half ago. This thing was like $600 at the time. Garmin is awesome and the Nuvi line is great. Always get to where I'm trying to go when I use this thing.
$300 at Amazon with free shipping and no tax. Plus, you don't have to belong to Costco or pay the 5% premium non-member fee.
I bought this for my mother for Christmas, and she loves it. I paid $350 for it at the time. I really want to get one, but I'm waiting to see what the Nuviphone is like. From the pictures I've seen, and the specs, it will give the iphone a real run for it's money.
Got my 360 about 2 weeks ago. Love it. The Bluetooth is awesome, and of course the navigation is great too. The one disappointment is that the maps aren't more complete in terms of having newer neighborhoods/streets accounted for, even though the Navteq maps are dated "2008". In one case I know the road has been there for more than a year, although the first houses were completed probably 9 months ago. However, I'm sure this is common to all map providers.
I rented a "Neverlost" from Hertz before I had this and was using it to drive around Las Vegas. There were at least 3 POIs (restaurants) that were nowhere to be seen. I think that's a result of how fast Vegas has been developing, but it was frustrating. I think those units are Garmins too, but who knows when Hertz last updated the maps in those things.
But does it run Linux?
#5 - no it doesn't run Linux. For that go with the Nuvi 651. It also comes with preloaded games of Pinball and Galaga.
prices are dropping on gps they buy the chip for $5 spo theres a lot of profit some gps are $100 at citrcuit city but sold out lots were $129 black friday every phone will have one soon
#7, Was that supposed to be some kind of complete sentence? Try using punctuation so we can at least pretend to take your comments seriously.
I have this unit as well and can't say enough good things about it. Very easy to use, great features, and so far it has been very reliable (I've had it for about a year).
Too bad this unit doesn't have the FM transmitter. I have the Nuvi 360 and it impossible to hear the voice prompts on the highway even at full volume.
superd00d, what car are you using the 360 in that you can't hear it with the volume all the way up?
#10:
Stop "singing" Monkees songs at the top of your lungs. The people in the car next to you are giving you very strange looks while avoiding eye contact.
#11, I'll bet you $5 it is an old toyota
I had this over the x'mas and used it in Scottsdale/Phoenix area. I was a little bit of disappointed on the direction. A few times it would instruct me too late to make the left/right turn.
Aside from actually routing you from A to B, it is all about POI.
GPS manufacturers are shy about actually stating the number (sometimes they just say "millions"). Ideally, 5 million or more is decent. But even then, a lot of stuff will not be in there.
Magellan breaks it down to 1.3 or 6 million on most of their models. This is the one area that GPS need to improve. For the US, you should really see something like 15-20 million to expect thorough coverage of most businesses and attractions.
Not sure about this unit on POI, but two things that annoy me that are addressed on the some of the newer 7xx and 8xx series:
1. No QWERTY keyboard layout
2. Flip up antenna must be up for GPS to work
Don't let anyone tell you Garmin, Magellan, or TomTom are the best. They all have their strengths and weaknesses (I have owned a few of each).
costco will have Maestro 4250 for $250 in a month if anyone's interested
The Garmin 650 from Costco does not include an AC charger like the 360 one from Costco. You have to charge with USB unless you buy the garmin car accessory kit(from Costco) or AC adapter from elsewhere. I got the 650 from Amazon(thanks to post#2) with no tax and free shipping and the car kit from Costco since it's a better deal than buying all individually elsewhere.
