NewEgg.com has the Garmin Nuvi 750 4.3" Screen GPS w/Text-to-Speech & 5+ Million POIs for $199 + $0 shipping = $199 shipped. It has an FM transmitter that plays voice prompts, MP3s or audio books and does it all through your car's stereo system.
Any kind of setup is not as nice as a built-in GPS in the car, because you have to keep it out of sight of the potential thieves, every single time you leave the car.
Thanks for the info #7...let me pay an extra 1500 for that vs. 200 for this...taking it off the window and hiding it in the glove compartment is so difficult. I'll be spending the 1300 for bj's from y0ur mom...
Garmin also warns that you should "erase" the marks that the suction mount leaves behind on the windshield after removal of the device. Apparently thieves see these marks and assume a GPS unit is hiding in the glove box and break into the car.
Read the reviews carefully before buying this unit. I had a Nuvi 750 for about 1 month and ended up returning it. The route selection is terrible and the voice prompts are always late. It tells you to turn onto a street AFTER you have already turned. The last straw was when it completely missed a major intersection. As far as I can tell a major road is missing from the map. The road has been there for many years and the 750 had the latest (2009) map.
#11...see how much of a dummy you are? you don't think things thoroughly before you attempt to make a snazzy comment.
people use gps for the sake of finding their ways to/around places they don't know. people park in more places than just their home. and for routine driving and commutes, people wouldn't even bring it out.
think before you talk. you comment added nothing to the conversation.
#11, it's funny you should say that. While I had my window bashed in while visiting somone who lived in a less desirable neighborhood, I have a friend who was staying with his parents for the holidy who had his window bashed in looking for his gps. His parents live in a million dollar home in a very nice area.
been using garmin various models for several years each new model has been better than the last soon as you find a tomtom in an airplane's carrotpit, call me and i might consider that junk if you get a bad route how do you know? if you know before trying the route, why not drive your way garmin can recalculate and use the route
Guaranteed to get your car broken in to.
Garmin SUCKS! Tom Tom is WAY BETTER! FACT!
I like my 750. Thanks. B.
#1 is correct. Make sure you remove the suction cup every time you leave the car.
I recommend one of the bean-bag mounts so it sits nicely on the dashboard at a proper height & distance.
The bean bag mount is a nice setup.

Why don't you just move to a better neighborhood?

#15, I tested the GPS by driving to known destinations. That's how I know the route it picked wasn't the best one.
