I don't have this model, but would generally endorse the Nuvi line of GPSs. (For the uninitiated, Garmin separates its Nuvi lines by the 100s -- there is the 200 series, the 700 series, the 1200 series, etc., with each series having an intended specialized application, and within each series there being a separation of features). I got the Nuvi 750 last week for a techno-challenged relative, and from my setup experience, I love it. I no longer live where traffic updates (xxxT) are a necessity (and wifey and I are sticking to paper maps.... I think). But the Nuvi interface is good, and the location update speed is finally good/great to great. On registration Garmin gave a free map update (generally updated every October) for my 750. Check out Amazon reviews for a table comparing the various Nuvi models. Warning: The newer Nuvi 1200 & 1300 series seem to have some charging issues - they overheat easily and when mounted on the dash/window in sun, the charging circuit cuts out to avoid damaging the battery. I understand (no actual personal knowledge) that mounting on the vent permits air blowing over the unit and minimizes the no-charging-when-hot problem.
There are a lot of reviews about the 700 series saying it has a very inaccurate touch screen. Entering addresses is supposedly pretty frustrating on the 700s.
Speaking from personal experience with this particular model... and 'gassyjoe' is correct... the touch screen of this model sucks. Typing an address can be frustrating... as you type one character and the device interprets a completely different character near-by. I personally don't recommend this model to anyone I know.

A great GPS with a horrible touchscreen.

No problems with the touchscreen here. Not sure what the fuss is about. The touchscreen is fine for entering an address. It's not like you are touch typing a dissertation on your GPS.
I had a 780 & the touchscreen doesn't work well when using the pad of your finger. Use the end of your fingernail & a small portion of the skin on the end of your finger. When I sold it a few days ago I didn't have any scratches on the touchscreen.
Otherwise a nice GPS & I actually used the Bluetooth more often than the GPS feature.
#2 - i got a new garmin 765t at amazon during the xmas sale for $198. have not experienced any problems at all with the touchscreen. very nice gps although the advertised images can be misleading. the nice graphic you see only shows up like for a few seconds approaching certain junctions. looks like pretty much every other gps when in normal use. you do get the lane assist in the top left though. pretty smooth map movement while driving compared to my older gps.
Dis gps pretty much does it all, lifetime traffic, text to speech, mp3, bluetooth (if u don't have a headset already). So i'd say it's a good buy for the price, esp new at best buy.
The GPS unit in your car can only "speak" to it's own company's satellite. The satellites in turn "speak back" to the individual GPS units. That is why they were so expensive several years ago.
The bigger companies have more units communicating with the distinct possibility of overload or crash. This has happened many times recently with Garming and TomTom since they are the most popular. If too many people are using their GPS at the same time, the satellites overload and can actually crash into another planet, star, meteor or asteroid...or worsed case back down to Earth.
Also, the beams that are transmitted as the GPS units "speak" to the satellites can cause beam deflection errors which usually occur on bridges or the entrances to tunnels. Additionally, GPS radar microwave beams can be warped and/or "wrapped" from satellites that are about to transpond and overload because of too many people beaming to them at once.
