DVI cable not included. Is this the norm for LCD monitors, that this cable is not included?

My father-in-law got one of these for Christmas. I don't know a whole lot about LCD monitors or anything, but this thing looked pretty nice. Somehow the 1440x900 (16:10 ratio) resolution didn't look right (or fit right), so I bumped it down to 1280x720 to keep the 16:9 ratio. I wouldn't mind getting one... I just don't need to be spending $160 on something I don't really need. My 21" 'lift and get a hernia' Trinitron monitor is doing just fine as of right now...
