While this is true for most things you might cook, that have plenty of "built in" fat, if you're doing more lean items (lower fat hamburger or fish), you're better off spraying the surfaces with some sort of cooking spray, to keep the food from sticking.
I bet this cooks bacon well. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
