Amazon has the Gerber 31-000758 Gator Machete for $17 with free shipping on $25+. Features 25" length and serrated back. Includes a sheath. Good user reviews. More traditional than the Parang style, but same zombie-slaying capability.

Looked like a good idea to combine a serrated blade with a machete. I would have bought this to add to a bug-out bag. Poor reviews on Amazon, though. Customers claim the blade breaks and/or bends.

Florida's 30 day python hunt started yesterday. This seems an ideal way to bag a few. And you get to keep the skin.

^ Wouldn't you be required to use a python machete?

Lack of metal and hardness information makes me think blade is made up of old "New Coke" cans. Probably rust faster than a 51 Edsel parked in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

^ For a machete you want a medium to high carbon, spring steel blade (that will rust wherever it isn't coated).

Some of the user reviews imply this machete had a tempering issue that reduces its toughness.

Yeah, a machete with anger management issues tends to snap unexpectedly.
