AT&T Wireless is offering several refurbished GoPhone Pay As You Go phones for as low as $8 (based on ZIP code) with free shipping. No annual contract required. The pictured Nokia 2610 GoPhone is $8 with free shipping, and includes most goodies you'd want in a phone.

I couldn't seem to add this to my shopping cart after I logged into my AT&T account. Anyone knows?

I agree with #2. They're also not bad if you want an extra phone in case your battery dies.

If you want a prepaid phone for emergencies, you can do better than AT&T. Consider T-Mobile or Virgin Mobile instead. The rates are lower, and both these companies provide better customer service than AT&T.

I second #8's comments with regards to T-Mobile prepaid. Way better deal than GoPhone as far as the minutes and the minimum you can get away with paying per month on average. I end up paying about $7/month for my wife's prepaid service with T-Mobile.

I wouldn't use this as an "extra" phone. A lot of these plans will expire your purchased minutes if you don't use them.

why would one use T-mobile for emergencies. Unless getting lost in the ghetto is your only emergency, their service is useless. I don't live in the ghetto or go there, so I get a cell phone that actually has reception elsewhere.

The big cell companies have one positive to their credit - reception.

you get what you pay for.
