Just so people don't get the wrong impressions...these aren't meant to be for gaming, and will even probably sound "worse" than a nice pair of Bose or Sennheiser's. Grado primarily is known for reference monitor headphones...they don't color the sound at all, so listening to CD's may not be as good as other consumer products. They are very accurate and comfortable cans, but they are best used in a studio setting when you don't want false EQ-ing built into the phones...

I have the SR80s. They sound great. Out of the box, they are not comfy on the ear. I bought the soft foam ear cushions made for the high end Grados. They feel real good on my ears now. They are much louder at a given volume level than most other headphones because of the powerful magnets within. I can hear details in music that I cant hear with other cans. I truly love mine, and you will love them too.

I have 2 pairs of SR60. One of the best headphone regardless on price.

My ears hurt after awhile when I wore these. Nice sound though.

Awesome phones. Wearing for extended periods an issue but do not let that bother you. Get these cans. I have a pair or Senns 595 for $200 and the Grado SR-60 sound better with much more bass.

I bought a pair of these through our local PBS fund-raising auction five years ago. They present the pure sound as recorded on the media, with no coloration. So they are great for judging the quality not only of music recordings, but also of stereo components as well.

Grado also makes best turntable cartridges, for those of you who still use vinyl recordings.
