this seems like a total waste of materials...i mean, sure it's an led, but 16"??!?? c'mon, that's really small...sure there might be a small niche for that size, but generally speaking, a 20"+ screen is really worth it/useful...imo
It might be useful as a 2nd or 3rd desktop display for webpages if turned sideways, at 14.88" width spec'd, then sideways without the stand, it'd be roughly the same height as a 23" to 24" monitor.
Then again with the smaller size, LED backlight (more immune to cold weather issues than CFL lighting) and external 12V power supply, I'm thinking vehicle monitor though you might want to add a low dropout regulator circuit if it doesn't like the ignition noise on the electrical system.
For that use it'd be nicer as a touchscreen, but you won't find one of those for $40.
