Incredibly low power output, only 50 watts.

I think the fish are still wise to that particular bait.

Wait a minute, it looks like you're getting a nibble.

HK typically rates their power lower than it actually outputs. Yet the 50w x 7 will put out more than just about any Sony 100w system.

I picked up one of these from onecall for a little less than this a month or two ago. I totally love it. Way better than the Yamaha I had. Don't buy into the marketing hype of higher wattage being important.

I am thrilled with it. Highly recommended.

The 1000 watt Chinese stuff for $50 is the way to go. It's all about the watts..

Here's a company that actually rates it's power across the whole spectrum. And of course, some rodeo cowboy thinks his sony that can produce 100 watts at one frequency (1khz) will have more power. Sure, for all your music that occurs at only that one freq. Anyway, he's not satisfied with just knowing, he needs to let everyone else know how novice he is to AV. Thanks DogFart.

I have the avr-635 and it sounds great. Rated at 80W (I think) and plenty loud.

you people are retarded, DogFart, go into best buy and buy the cheapest 1000 watt panasonic surround sound system for about the same price as this receiver. I cross my heart and hope to die that it will sound better than this H/K receiver that only has a measly 50 watts per channel.

Or you could do your own research and not sound like an @ss next time

I agree with the previous posts but you can buy higher output systems from quality brands that don't fake their numbers for less money. Onkyo dennon and Yamaha come to mind.

#9 show me one with hdmi under 350.
People tend to simply spit out stupid replies without actually thinking.
For example this unit comes with hdmi upconvert and 1080p pass thru...you cannot find an onk or yam with those features at this price range.
Also it depends on YOUR ears in YOUR listening environment with YOUR speakers.

How about paying ten dollars more and getting a Rcvr that scores a 9.3

      http://www.testfreaks.com/receivers/onkybaconx-sr605/
      rather than a 7.0

      http://www.testfreaks.com/receivers/harman-kardon-avr-247/

      It also has:
HDMI *V1.3* repeater (2in/1out, 1080p compatible), 90 real watts each channel
and the Audyssey 2EQ auto speaker setup. This nullifies your statement:
"Also it depends on YOUR ears in YOUR listening environment with YOUR speakers."

Because it uses a microphone placed in the center of the listening space to adjust the rcvr to the speakers and room acoustics.

how about you go out and listen to the receiver before you listen to some online review? I'm pretty sure nobody here has bought a car without driving it first. Or a home without going in it.

I still don't believe how everyone thinks that b/c something is published on a website it must be true. Do some first person research and then make your decision.
