yes people still watch tv, but not at the time shows comes on.
The real intent with this is to record all those channels that are sent to your TV encrypted. Very silly that we have to convert from digital to analog component and then back to digital, wasting energy and a losing a little fidelity in the process. A tuner is much preferred for the unencrypted content, since you can just record the data the networks compressed with their more expensive and capable encoders that were fed digital data to start.
