Newegg has the Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600 TV Tuner 1199 PCI for $85 - $5 off with coupon code EMCMMLS66 [Exp 11/11] = $80 with free shipping. On board is a regular NTSC tuner along with a ATSC digital tuner. Supports Clear QAM standards for those that want to use it with a cable set top box. [Compare]

Just to clarify, ClearQAM doesn't use a cablebox. The coax cable is plugged directly into the Hauppauge card and the ClearQAM content is decoded on the card, without a cable box.

If the model is correct, this includes an IR blaster to change the channel of your cablebox or satellite receiver, so you should be able to record premium content over the svideo input.

The included Hauppauge software isn't very good for replacing a TiVo. Win7 MC and GB-PVR are reasonable replacements.

I couldn't determine from the specs whether both tuners could be used simultaneously in 7MC or other programs. Any ideas?

Amazon has it for $85. They also have a detailed chart of the difference in models.

ATSC=digital off-air reception in US (got an antenna?), ClearQAM= unscrambled digital cable channels.

Poster #1 is correct, the Hauppauge software is not a very polished application. It lets you watch TV, but it's very much aimed at watching tv on a desktop PC, and not as part of a HTPC.

In addition to GB-PVR, Mediaportal is also a pretty decent freeware media center front end that addresses that issue.

Anybody knows, if this one would work under Linux? Any experience with that?

#1 In Vista Media Center I can use both tuners simultaneously so I would think you could in Win7.

#6 The drivers are built in with Ubuntu and I've used it with MythTV. Some simpler TV apps won't work with this because it has a hardware decoder.
