Walmart has the Hawkeye 5 Gallon Aquarium Kit for $19 + $1 shipping = $20 shipping. Kit includes 5 gallon tank, full hood, compact fluorescent light, power filter & cartridge.
small tanks are hard to keep stable (in terms of water chemistry). if you get it, keep a single beta fish (Siamese fighter) and nothing else and you'll be alright.
Buy your kid this so he can continue to let you down on short lived promises of responsibility, and if your lucky the fish will die before you get tired of feeding them and decide to flush them down the toilet late one night... grabby is right... big tanks are MUCH easier to keep.
I picked up this tank when it was on sale earlier this year. I have it heavily planted with about 11 fish: 3 bettas, 2 danios, 2 plecos, 4 neons. No problems with temperature, chemistry, and the included light makes the plants grow like crazy.
I've owned larger tanks and this one is no more difficult to keep.
sorry dhho1... beat ya to it
i guess u can keep about 5 1" fish of 1 5" fish with this tank. good price.
It's made out of plastic, so it will look cheap.
