More like $8.49. The .49 kills the deal.

This product is useful if you have a very high capacity memory card. When you take more and more pictures, you need a heavy duty strap to safely carry the increased load.

Meritline has this same strap for around $7 and ships free. From time to time they have it on sale with a coupon; I think I paid about $4 or $5. I ordered one from there and have been very happy with it.

It took some adjusting to get it to work while still having the neckstrap attached and it blocks one or more of the compartments (battery or media card - not really sure) on my Nikon, but it removes from the base very easily so that's not really an issue. It also creates a bit more bulk so it may cause issues with your camera bag, but all in all it's worth having and beats wrapping the neskstrap around your wrist as I used to do to get the same results.

$13 at Meritline now. Try this one for $5 S/F from eBay. Help keep those Falun Gong prisoners busy. http://cgi.ebay.com/Hand-Grip-Strap-For-All-Camera-Canon-Nikon-Pentax-Sony_W0QQitemZ280413597020QQcmdZbaconQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item4149f3ed5c

Thanks #4 for the link. It looks like a good deal for under $5. Most low priced goods these days are made in China but not by Falun Gong prisoners. Most of the Falun Gong prisoners are so badly tortured that makes it difficult for them to work.

I have one on my Canon 40D and find it both comfortable and convenient. It occupies my right hand, but at least the camera is always ready, and it's not bouncing around on my chest.
