I would go for the 4890 instead, but I guess this is not a bad deal.

Considering the similar Asus 512Mb version went for $113 early in March and this HIS 1GB was $190 in Feb 14th, I don't see this as much of a deal. Now the 4890's are in the mix I would've figured these 4870 1Gb cards would be price better than this. It's crazy that there's that large of a gap for moving from this to the regular 4890. $30+ is too much and previous deals just justifies ATI and AIB's pricing point could be month's ago.
I think you'd be better finding the cash and waiting for the 4890's to be found for $200-210 as pricing for those standard issue models should be seeing it's pricing relinquish to that level in a 10-15 days.

HIS normally runs more expensive than similar ATI cards because of their cooling technology. They normally do their best to provide a better cooling system for their cards (and lets face it, ATI cards need better cooling).

#5 -- If you look at 275 vs 4890 the ATI's are the cooler of the bunch. Also I'd consider a Asus cool pipe Black Knight over this aluminum copper core HS. Or here a Gigabyte 1Gb with a Zelman heat pipe cooler for $170 and F-S... this wasn't any deal!

I have found that video cards can be very frightening. What I do to overcome my technical deficiencies is to make posts that make me feel important. the longer the post, the more important (obviously). When I was afraid, I would cry, then I would read a book about furry animals. this by itself made me feel good. If I wanted to share my knowledge about video cards and power supplies, I would go out into the world wide web and just start typing to infinium. This by itself made my ego large. a large ego can go a long way on the Internet. if you just keep typing in post about the same thing over and over, people will like you. if people like you, then you are seen as being popular amongst a bunch of people you don't even know. There is nothing more rewarding than making your ego grow by telling people in the web, simple information. sometimes you get a total loser who really likes you, that person will follow you and love you because of the inner feelings losers share with total strangers on the web. Well, I hope you liked my report on video cards, I have worked hard to get to this level, I feel that most people really want me to keep typing redundant information about nothing but video cards. and you know that video cards are very scary and important. but I go on.... my knowledge is so powerful that it even makes me proud of myself, and if you can't be proud of yourself, how are you going to make complete strangers proud of you.
