I have five to pack up and RMA...don't bother. The WD EADS drives to replace them just came. Dead silent, other...well all but one which is dead
The Hitatchi's burned to the touch and sounded like vacuum cleaners.
Two and a half months ago I bought this drive and paid $130 with a $20 mail-in rebate. I never received the rebate but the drive is still alive. My advice to you is not to ever buy anything with mail-in rebate because they drag it so long hoping that you would forget about it. No, I haven't forgotten about it at all. It is the fact that I don't have time to pursue the matter. I would have bought this drive at this price but with what happened to the rebate, it doesn't feel okay to buy another Hitachi.
