^ People often say the same about all the brands. Hitachi, Toshiba, Seagate, WD, they have millions of drives running fine. If any had the substantial failures people imply (except for rare defective models) they could not stay in business because OEMs would drop them.
Laptops are a special case though, the laptop designer controls ambient temperature more so than in a desktop, and the owner controls the amount of abusive shock it suffers.
What good is such a small drive these days? I'm waiting for a deal on a petabyte drive.

Fewer platters = lower noise, heat, power consumption = longer life (all else being equal).
Give each client device enough storage for things that need to load fast and centralize remaining bulk storage for all clients to use.
