How ZZ with rebates? Anybody? Do they charge the TAX?
omg TAX? what does that stand FOR.
Tax, prolly if you are in California.
Rebates, no problems so far
I got screwed twice with zzf rebates, I will never go to them again. Once it has been flat out denied, the other time the postmark date was one day ahead of delivery date so I was caught off guard. If this were the manufacturer ( Hitachi) honoring it, that would be a different story.
I've done several rebates with Zip Zoom Fly. They've been good so far. Once mailed past the last submit date and was denied. That was my fault NOT theirs. Once used the wrong rebate form. They took my call and allowed me to submit correct form.
>>How ZZ with rebates?
Follow rebate conditions and instructions and you'll rarely have problems, regardless of rebate source.
I tire of all of the messages here from the vocal minority that can't read and follow simple instructions, or can't patiently and courteously work out an occasional problem.
#6 "Follow rebate conditions and instructions and you'll rarely have problems, regardless of rebate source."
I've gotta disagree with you #6. Even when you do everything exactly right you'll still have problems. They look for excuses to deny you claim and when they can't find one they just make up something.
I don't do rebates anymore. Just tired of the hassle.
Avg. seek time is way too high... look at a seagate or WD.
#7, I agree 100%. I've done many 100's of rebates over the years and always kept meticulous records. I found claim denial was random and resubmitting proof from my records usually (but not always) reversed the denial. I suspect (but can't prove) many of these rebate clearing houses deny a certain percentage of otherwise good claims, hoping people didn't keep records of their submission and thus screw them out of their rebate.
Then there's the ones you wait twice the usual 6-8 week period on, then waste many hours on a barrage of phone calls and emails to them just to try and get your $5 rebate sent.
Nope, I'm done with the hassle. I'll gladly pay a bit more for a product without a rebate.
Agree with #7 and #9. Don't do rebates any more ... total BS.
Also, don't forget about the potential for being added to Mailing Lists (snail mail) or Email lists.
I don't do rebates and (usually) don't do extended warranties.
I can't believe people whine so much about rebates. I get over 80% of those I participate in and don't ever bother more than a couple short followup emails on the rest... about 3 minutes at most.
The bottom line is you end up paying less by doing rebates even if some don't come back, and nobody is forcing you to be anal about badgering some company for that rebate.
Don't buy a product if you didn't already want it and if they jacked up the price to offset a rebate. That way you paid a fair price without the rebate, it's nothing more than your own personal decision how much time to waste trying to be even more greedy.
Now as it applies to this deal, WHAT THE burp?
Practically all 1TB HDDs cost more than $76, AND then you have the potential to save even more with a rebate. What a terrible trick they're playing on you. Flee while you can, the evil rebate zombies are coming to get you, LOL.
