hmm does the deathstar reputation still hold true or can i really put a whole terabyte of data now without worrying?
You should always worry about data on a hard drive that isn't backed up. So if you have a good backup plan, then no need to worry. Otherwise the sky is falling.
#2, when IBM sold the rights for the disk line to Hitachi, the first thing they did was fix the Deathstar's reliability problem. In my opinion the Hitachis are the most reliable drives out there at this time (don't know about SCSI drives). (not the fastest, unfortunately - although they are quite quick)
#4 works for Hitachi
#2 get two
#5 works for Hitachi's competitor
Hitachi is a good company. I have a desktop computer which is to old with Hitachi hard disk of 80Gb still works fine. I didn't found any error nor bad sector. I never bought any thing from egg. I don't have any idea about the online purchase from egg. I would rather suggest to ask someone who purchased from that site.
I swear if I hear one more rodeo cowboy talk about that single line of 80gb drives so many years ago that a had a manufacturing defect I'm going to strangle someone.
Most reliable enterprise storage drives. 1st 1TB drive by almost 7 months. These are great drives.
Drive me home , James.
Yeah #9... Hitachi probably would have been smart to ditch the "Deskstar" name as soon as they acquired IBM's storage unit.
Deathstar?
Yeah, because of the stigma attached to the name.
There is no info on this drive anywhere. Is it that new, or that old... or just has a different part number than reviewers get?
