Don't count on this drive for any performance, it's very slow. I had GTA4 installed on this, it's speed is insufficient to warrant a decent game. When I hard workerto my Seagate with 8 mb cache - everything was normal. As stated, it's a power saving drive available for dirt cheap and that's why it's slow. Good backup drive, though.

#2, Hitachi produces this product line with a choice of SATA or PATA interface, but not on the same physical drive. This particular drive is SATA-only. Ben's decription is wrong and/or misleading.

Bens descriptions have been almost consistently incorrect and misleading lately. There was a Hitachi 2.5 in for $45 about 1/5 weeks ago.

#5 You mention "There was a Hitachi 2.5 in for $45 about 1/5 weeks ago. " Can you provide the link ? ( I hope you are talking about the 500Gb 2.5" HDD. 1/5 week is less than 2 days old)

Sorry for the typo. You are correct, I ordered one of those. It was from the HP parts site.

I can, but it won't do you any good b/c HP cancelled my order without even notifying me. They claimed it was a "price mistake" and the "correct" price is $225. Right now, the best price on a 2.5" 500GB seems to be newegg for $81. I'm going to wait for a better deal. HP is back to its old personality.
