The specific model of the drive inside is a Hitachi HDS5C4040ALE630 drive. 4TB (by drive manufacturer standards - about 3726GB by mine), SATA 6Gb, 32MB buffer, 512e (emulated 512b sectors). The drive has 5 800GB platters, uses around 4.5 watts at idle, and requires about 15 watts to spin up. I have loaded two of them into my netgear ReadyNAS Ultra 6 NAS, which it accepts nicely, and has been operating for 2 weeks without complaint, its time to add a third.
