I have three that were purchased 4 months ago, and they are quite, and run cool. Paid about $10 more at the time, but was also with the Hitachi rebate (which took a long time).

This price looks very good compared to previous prices.
I've bought an external case for 2.5" SATA HDD at $7 to make a cheap external HDD with 3-year warranty. (Retail external HDD usually carries only 1-year warranty.)
320GB 2.5" external HDD at $77 sounds very sweet for me. :]

Price is dropping because the new 500GB HDs are coming up.

Great price assuming you are getting the rebate.

Hitachi will be risky for rebates. I got about 4 out of every 5 without fuss but took a long time. The other ones were very difficult to handle. Nightmares from those and some lasted more than 18 months to get paid, but they screwed with the wrong ghetto dog. I don't give up.

I swore off Hitachi rebates since then.

#6, it was hard for me to get it at $7. I found that it was being sold at $7 at eforcity (please search for the deal by the keyword "eforcity". It was posted on 08/20/08.)
