This thing is no where near the performant of the comercial one that you can rent from Drug stores or home improvement stores. It's good to have one for spot cleanning not the whole house. Twice the work and too messy. 12 AMP motor is just good for the basic vacumm for picking up the dirt / dust.

This particular model is highly rated on Amazon and ConsumerSearchdotCom--probably the best-performing, affordable carpet cleaner you can buy.

I'm very happy with the one I bought ... it cleaned up the carpets well, including carpet in high-traffic areas that had never been shampooed/steam cleaned in 8 years. The rotating brushes lifted up the pile, including where furniture had been sitting for years.

It sucks up the water very well. Carpets were slightly damp immediately after cleaning, but never any excess water. Carpets were completely dry within 10-12 hours, though I live in Colorado where humidity is on the low side.

It also has a detachable hand unit with 2 rotating brushes and an 8ft pipe for cleaning furniture and hard-to-reach places.

I like the fact that its available when I need to spot clean spilt liquid or a puppy stain, unlike the ones I have to go rent.

One thing is that the name is very misleading. It doesn't actually generate or use any steam. It gets as hot as the water you pour into its water/detergent tank. It's definitely not a Steam Vac, but I've had great results from using hot tap water.

#3 I bought one (not this model) some 5 years ago and quickly returned it. Since then properly the technology have been improved, I may try it again to see if it works for me this time. I expect its performant is at least 70% compare with the comercial one. Is it too high?

Even the old hoover steam cleaner I bought works awesome. Just make sure you pour in that hot water.
