consumer reports sez: CR's Take Impressive cleaning and superb pet-hair pickup helped put this bagless upright on our winner's list. This model also delivers lots of suction for tools, manual carpet-height adjustment (better for matching the brush to the surface), and a retractable cord--all in a low-priced, relatively light machine that weighs just 18 pounds. Two things this value-priced model doesn't include: Suction control for drapes and a brush on/off switch to safeguard bare floors and prevent scattered dust and debris. And emptying a bagless vac's bin is a dusty, messy process. Among upright brands, Hoover has been a solid performer in our tests over the past several years, though a notch below Miele and LG overall.
I own this. It loses suction very fast. The holes in this Dyson knock-off get plugged with lint after one room.
The filter is rinsable, but CR didn't test it enough to find out that after three rinses, the rubber seal around the filter starts to crack further reducing suction. I superglue the cracks as they occur.
On the plus side, when the dust bin is washed clean , it sucks pretty good. It's also not deafeningly loud like some others.
