Works very well. You can install a 2.5" SATA hard drive into it. I have a 500GB WD drive in it and have it filled up with movies. I can take it with me. I sold my WD TV since I bought this device and have no regrets.

The WD live is a much better unit. More reliable and better picture.

The WD Live is actually a very nice unit but you can't install a hard drive. There is good and bad with that. I like that by putting in a hard drive, you have a self-contained unit. On the flip side, an external hard drive is much more versatile.

From an Amazon review: The HornetTek Phantom and the Patriot Box Office is the EXACT same thing. Same remote, same physical hardware, same user manual. One makes the other. I'm confident that HornetTek is the original MFG. This is good to know for three reasons: 1) Patriot Wireless adaptors are somewhat hard to find in stores. 2) The user manual for the Patriot is well written, where the HornetTek is written in broken English by some dude in China, who was "really" trying. 3) The Patriot Box Office comes with everything the HornetTek Phantom does, but also a HDMI cable.

The Patriot is $100 on Amazon with free two-day shipping, and you get the wireless G adapter for free.

The question is who is the better company for communicating with their customers and for updating their firmware. As far as the PBO is concerned I get the impression Patriot are already beginning to switch off the project....hope I'm wrong.
