Watch the 64-bit Windows ladies, as some of your applications will not work.

There are very few applications nowadays that cannot run on 64bit OS and I can't think of any that are geared toward females. Granted, I am not sure about Digital Makeup 2.0, but I believe it does work.

Apps that do not work well on 64bit OS may work using emulation.

There are apps that work, sure. I purchased Nero and Powerdvd 2 years ago, now they don't work on 64 bit, forcing me to upgrade to their newer versions.
      So 2 of the 3 I own don't work.

*ugh*. I'd rather get the machine with a BSD or Linux installed. Now I gotta go through the hassel of building my own to get around the Microsoft Tax.

      Newer isn't always better, huh?

I saw where DELL is giving you the choice of Windows XP with some of their desktops...

Waiting for the Intel Core i7 machines to drop in price. Even the bottom of the line proc (priced under $300) runs rungs around any but the Extreme edition current processor.

Regarding Vista, my son's Dell with a Q6600 proc came with Vista 64 and so far so good -- it's run everything he's asked it to just fine, but he doesn't have a lot of devices. I hear most problems are with old devices that don't have updated drivers.

AutoCAD doesn't work in 64-bit, unless you buy that version, and an older version of Norton Systemworks won't work, and one of my vid editting software programs.

this is cheap compared to something that is built ... with added software as well. just rip off the software if you do not want or partition the drive to make it ubuntu ... still an excellent machine for the non gamer ... well this is also good for the gamer with quad and 4gs and added video card
