same deal as last week...
I got this a month ago for the same price, but had to return it after 2 weeks. Its a nice machine but its waaayyy too shiny and runs bit warmer than normal.
I guess that is due to the size of the machine. I ran 3dmark and got a score of 1498 (which is awesome for integrated graphics). I will get it once AMD figures out how to make cooler processors and longer battery life.
Good deal nonetheless
These are cool gadgets, that's it.
This is a very solid tablet and good for students who like to type notes and need to hand draw diagrams (chemistry, math, etc)
It is cheaper than all other tablets you can find.
I have 3 for the my clinic and the 2 other docs use it rather than a paper tablet. Its not that heavy and it does get fairly warm. I recommended getting extended battery.
Now there is free upgrade to Vista x64.
Then you can call tech.support and get reinstall DVD for free.
Can somebody share the x64 image, please - I bought it with x32.

PS.
Upgrade to the "Ultra" = Puma = ZM CPU - it saves energy
it would be pointless for you to go to the 64 bit OS cause there are a lot of compatibility issues with software and drivers, just stick with your 32 OS. Plus it's a tablet PC why would you need a 64 bit OS? it would just eat up more resource.
I've now had this tablet for 1 month. I feel it's pretty solid.I have read that you can't upgrade it's components. My biggest down side with it is how slow it is load vista. I'm thinking of putting Ubuntu on it. Anyone already do that? How's that working out with respect to drivers...
With regard to the last post all the programs/drivers that come with the tablet work without a hitch. I would go with the 64 bit OS, it's just the future of computing. Program developers are slowly ditching 34bit. For the most part the 64bit OS can emulate 32bit software (but not the drivers). If you want to unleash the speed of a dual core processor you need a 64bit OS. Also, the therotical maximium for memory that can be cached using windows 32bit OS is limited to 4gb where as for a 64bit OS it is on the order of 1000tb. So if anything ur computer should only run faster.
Coupon didn't work for me... looks like it's dead.
knowjack,
I have the tx1219 which is an older version of this tablet but with almost the same specs. Not being a fan of Vista (and Wind0ze in general), my first step was to install XP to get some performance back. As one may expect, of course HP support didn't have "jack" for this.
You will not be disappointed if you install Ubuntu - I have been running Hardy (x86-64) for a while now and haven't a single complaint. For the most part, everything works nicely out of the box... even the volume control buttons! Wireless setup is also pretty slick in Ubuntu given that they essentially put a nice GUI around ndiswrapper. Assuming you have downloaded the .inf for the device it's only a few clicks away. The other tablet features I can't really comment on because they weren't priority for me. I was interested in price/mobility.
Depending on what you else you need in Wind0ze, take a look at Qemu (free emulator, but a little slow) or VMWare. As far as performance for l00nix is concerned, night and day when compared to Vista.

Yeah, this tablet has been at this price point for a while now. I hear it's pretty solid, but it does run warm, the processor isn't so fast, and the battery-life isn't so great. I'm looking forward to see a newer version that corrects all these issues.
FYI: I believe the tx2600z is coming out soon...
Thanks, I'll look into it.
