Go for the upgraded RX or ZX processor to save on battery. They under-clock down to as low as 600mhz when not used where the TL processors only clock down to 1000mhz.

This is a decent price with these upgrades but I've seen the base model dip below $700 so this deal depends on how much you value the free upgrades.

Not to mention they start shipping the tx2 this week, which has the multi-touch screen. That is probably why the tx2500 is falling so fast. Reviews are mixed on the multitouch because it will not be natively supported by applications or drivers until Windows 7. So this is not a bad time to get in on this laptop.

I have the tx2000 which is the older version of this (bought in May 2008), it runs fine with Vista 64 and 4 GB of ram. This appears to be the same thing with a faster processor.

if you get one of these, you might want to look into underclocking/undervolting the processor using a program like RMClock to run with less heat and longer battery life. I've had very good results on AMDs, especially the TurionX2s. Unless you're doing something particularly processor intensive, you usually won't even notice a slowdown.

surfing bensbargains on my tx2000x right now great lappie and the touch screen has been wonderful for classes/work. the processor and the graphics card in the 2500 are nicely improved and with this price and the upgrade to the capabilities am wishing i would have waited a couple of months. (o btw just another plug for bens bargains, I found this lappie through bensbargains and saved 500 bucks!!!, although i am envious of the new one I still love my tablet.)
