This is a G3. G6 is shipping right now. Old server. Check end-of-support date.

Old, but still could be useful. We are recycling these as we retire them. Blades and virtualization are here to stay.

Hmm.. Guess my price of $200 for the same unit but with 6GB ram and 6x73GB drives is a good deal for the one I need to sell.

    Anyone interested?

    I have already previewed a G8.
We use G6s and are phasing out our G5s, so I expect they will shortly re-appear as "refurbished" too.
Like #5 says, G3s are prehistoric.
I doubt that these are in any way refurbished. They are probably just very old servers at end-of-life. Chances are that the MTBF on the drives has long since been exceeded.

Anything from the Netburst era is pretty much garbage.

Yeah, def an old piece of equipment. With all those little fans it's no doubt noisy enough that you wouldn't want one in your home. It may have reasonable processing power, but not much disk storage. Upgrading the memory/storage capacity on this would probably be uneconomical. Also expensive to run, with 2x PS.

you guys dissing this as a bargain @ $175 are smoking crack. the 15k drives alone would be worth nearly that. as far as it being generations old... no sh*t sherlock, where'd you pick up on that insider information.

this could have been very useful for someone with a small tick upwards in memory; had the price been accurate.

oh yea, the guy talking smack about a g8... bullsh*t! g7 is barely released this week...

Like #9 points out, these are old used server drives. This means they probably were run practically nonstop from being installed, and may have been subjected to heavy-duty usage. These things do wear out...
