Depends on what you need. Intel's Core Duo Processor would be better. However, this is the best price that I've seen for a touchscreen laptop with swivel. It depends on what you want. personally, I don't need the touch/swivel screen.

it is a good price for the specs you are getting. i haven't seen anything equivalent for cheaper yet.

Not sure about the swivel/touch screen. Seems more likely to break.

It'll be better if they fixed the lockup while trying to wake up from hibernation or sleep mode.

I have this, bought it in february for around $600. It has all the bells and whistles, and if you're a gadget person its the one for you HOWEVER, if I had it to do over again, I'd wait for windows 7. This puppy locks/freezes up so much with vista it should be a crime! Only today, I wanted to pitch it through the window. I do not believe its the HP hardware, but rather the microsoft software (I only buy hp computers and this is the only one I've had this problem with).

Again, if you don't absolutely NEED a new computer right now, then wait for 7.

question about the processor: the 2.4 ghz option is only a 2MB L2 cache. i'm not sure what exactly cache means (other than that having a larger cache is better), but is this going to be significantly weaker/slower than a C2D 2.5 6MB cache?

#9, generally yes, but more complicated. Like video cards more memory helps up to a point after that it is marketing BS or memory envy.. Not to mention the differences between L1, vs L2, vs L3 cache.
