Newegg has the HT | OMEGA CLARO II 7.1 Channels 24-bit 192KHz PCI Interface Sound Card for $185 - $35 off with coupon code 24HRSALE606M [Exp 6/6] = $150 with free shipping. Features Dolby Digital Live, Pro Logic IIX, DTS Interactive and DTS NEO: PC technologies.
Best soundcard on the market for consumers. Noobs need not apply. Just use your onboard or USB headphones speakers, listening to your lossy Justin Bieber mp3s and have a nice day.
best at what? for music this is crap. An asus xonar stx with LME49720 opamp and a set of senn HD650s with Zu cable is where it's at(of course mix opamps, cans and cables to suit preference). Noobs with Omega Claro and monster turbine IEMs need not apply.
For multi channel audio I prefer to leave it digital through hdmi and let the DAC in the SR7005 worry about it(the DAC in the SR is ok for music, but pretty good for HT). For headphone listening the Omega couldn't drive audiophile grade headphones if it wanted to, it would barely eek a squeak with my 300ohm HD650s
