Hotness UNHOT
GoHardDrive.com has the iNeo 3.5" Desktop Hard Drive Protection case for $10 with free shipping. "It is a storage case for your hard drive from drop damage, water spills and for a dust-free environment." Good for those who hot-swap multiple hard drives.

Useless product. If you are hot swapping drives they probably are in a tray or have some sort of mounting brackets on it so they wouldn't fit in something like this.

What about heat the drive generate while in operation. Do you need to let the drives cool down before putting then into these cases?

Never tooks physics? They will cool down slower in this case but will still cool down. If anything it might help because there is less deformation when temperature changes are gradual.

#1, this is just a storage case for bare hard drives. The latest thing is a hard drive socket that sits on your desktop and takes bare drives. No need for a case, though it can be argued that a bare drive is easily damaged.

Not a bad idea, but I'd think 3 for $10 would be more like it for just a piece of plastic.

In these times when 10 bucks can get you about 150GB of HD space, I am totally with #5. That's been my thought since I've seen these advertised here and there for $8 + Shipping.

The hard disk is sealed. The only way any liquid is going to damage such a device is if its powered at the time. And dust doesn't damage disk drives.
