A bit lame considering you can get the Inspiron 15 (with a bigger screen), more memory (3gb), more hard drive space (250gb) and Windows 7 for the same price.

Smaller cost more unless you include the castrated atom segment. Been living in a cave?

Smaller & lighter is always more expensive. Not a bad deal if you are looking for a step up from a netbook and need a built in drive.

I'd prefer something with a 11.6" screen and no DVD drive for less weight.

Vista basic is a big let down. The free upgrade to win 7 only applied to vista premium and even that is expired.

It is a nice price for a slim 13.3" but the 4 cell battery limits its use as a portable machine.

You can take the DVD drive out of most laptops, just cut & bend a piece of metal to hold the cover plate in place if it isn't a slot-loader.

The problem I have with Dell is they advertise a stripped model. By the time you add memory, a good Core 2, a good OS ( it comes with Vista Home ) , n wireless, blue tooth and a slighty bigger HD its $729. I can purchase a Macbook at MicroCenter for $799 which is probably a better computer.
